LAWRENCE M. ARTENIAN

Larry has over 35 years of experience in civil litigation and business transactions, emphasizing employment, personal injury, business, and real estate disputes. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, and his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law. Before law school, Larry served as a claims examiner for the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Workers Compensation Programs in Boston. Larry has served over 25 years as a Professor at San Joaquin College of Law, where he continues to teach courses as an adjunct professor. Previously, he practiced law at Dooley, Anderson, Berg & Pardini in San Francisco, and with the McCormick Barstow firm in Fresno.

Larry has played a major role in recovering millions of dollars in wages for California employees through the firm’s class action practice. On behalf of the entire trial team, he was nominated as national trial lawyer of the year by the Public Justice Foundation for the firm’s $54.6 million jury verdict in Ridgeway v. Wal-Mart. Larry works extensively with economics and data analysis experts to present trial testimony supporting the calculation of unpaid and undocumented wages, overtime pay, and other employee benefits. He has appeared in class action cases in each of the four federal District Courts in California, and he has written and defended appeals and writs in the state and federal courts of appeal, and the California Supreme Court.

Larry is a member of the California Employment Lawyers Association and Consumer Attorneys of California. He is a past President of the Downtown Association of Fresno and a former Trustee for San Joaquin College of Law. He’s also a classical violinist, formerly a member of the Fresno Philharmonic, and concertmaster of the Bach Society Orchestra at Harvard. Larry attended Hoover High in Fresno, is a fan of the Fresno State Bulldogs, and still holds out hope that someday, the Lakers will win again.
